Urinalysis

Urinalysis test

The urine test is a lab test. Through this test, the doctor can detect other problems of the body through the problems seen in the urine. Many diseases and disorders affect how waste material and toxins are released from the body. This means that if there is any type of problem in the lungs, kidneys, urinary tract, skin, and bladder, then its effect is clearly visible in your urine. Urine testing is not the same as a drug screening or pregnancy test, although urine testing is required in all three tests. Diagnostic Centre in Krishna Nagar

Urine testing is a normal test that is performed for several reasons:
·         For overall health checkup. Urine checkup is routinely included in routine medical examinations such as pregnancy checkup, preparation before surgery or admission to a hostel to check for a variety of diseases including diabetes, kidney and liver diseases.
·         To diagnose medical conditions. Your doctor will recommend urine tests if you have abdominal pain, back pain, frequent or painful urination, blood in the urine or other problems related to urination. Diagnosing the causes of these symptoms through a urine test helps.
·         To monitor medical conditions. If you have kidney disease or urinary tract disease, the doctor will recommend regular urine tests to monitor and treat the disease.
Other tests such as pregnancy tests and drug screening are also relied on in urine samples, but these tests look for substances not commonly included in urine testing. For example, in pregnancy tests, a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is measured. Drug screening involves the detection of specific drugs or their metabolic products depending on the purpose of the test. Diagnostic Centre in Krishna Nagar

What should I know before urination testing: - If you have a UTI, you may have some discomfort in giving a sample for the test? Wash your hands before and after taking a urine sample. Follow all instructions to protect the urine sample from contamination.
What to do before urination test:-Drink enough water before the test to get enough samples for the test. However, drinking too much water can also cause test results to be inaccurate. On the day of the test, if your diet allows, drink one or two extra glasses of juice or water. You do not need to fast or change your diet for the test.
Also, tell your doctor about the medications and supplements you are taking. Some of these that may affect the results of your test include:
·         Vitamin C supplements
·         Metronidazole
·         Riboflavin
·         Anthraquinone laxatives
·         Methocarbamol
·         Nitrofurantoin
Some other medications may also affect test results. Tell the doctor about everything you have taken before the urine test
These factors are usually not a sign of a serious problem, but abnormally high levels of protein can be a sign of conditions that cause kidney disease, such as-
·         Diabetes
·         Heart conditions
·         High blood pressure
·         Lupus
·         Leukemia
·         Sickle cell anemia
·         Rheumatoid arthritis
If the protein level is abnormally high, the doctor may order a follow-up test to check its cause. The normal range of urine tests may vary depending on all labs and hospitals. Please consult your doctor for any questions regarding test results. Diagnostic Centre in Krishna Nagar
